RIVERINE HYDROKINETIC TURBINE ROTOR

 

The main scope of this invention is to design a hydrokinetic turbine propeller that convert the kinetic energy of flowing water into electricity.  In this study, a 3 m diametered hydrokinetic turbine propeller has been designed which have relatively higher efficiency, works at 1-2,7 m/s free stream velocity and have a rated power of 27 kW.  The efficiency of the propeller varies between % 40-50. The electricity can be produced from relatively small scale water flows such as; rivers, streams, irrigation channels by mounting this invention to a suitable type of generator. This invention is important also for electrification of off grid areas that the transmission lines does not exist. Especially, it is aimed to produce renewable energy with environmental methods without harming the natural fabric of the location.
